Oh what a lovely weekend I had! Yesterday I met up with Frances (wonderwoman of the green parent forum ) in Chester. We had a nice drink in a lovely pub , and the time flew by! How nice it is to meet someone new and discover there is so much you can talk about with that person!
Afterwards I had a lovely walk around the shops and finally got some lovely metal tin buckets , spades, watering can for Jamie´s sandpit. I am on a plastic throw out mission at the moment and his sandpit is overflowing with horrible cheap plastic things.
He loves his little buckets and has been playing with them all the time.
Today we went to Eastham Ferry for a nice walk in the woods - we collected some wood to make treeblocks ourselves. Jamie had a nice time running around and seeing all the dogs. I collected some stones and branches and jamie loved playing with all those little stones. I really wouldn´t have expected that, but you can give this child anything and he finds a way to play with it. And he´s only 2!
These last 2 weeks have seen so many changes: No TV (which is working fab!), hardly any plastic and lots of natural playthings. Jamie is transformed, he is playing and playing and playing...
I have started reading Heaven on Earth and it is one amazing book. I cannot put it down, it reminds me so much of my own childhood, the magic of playing and just being a child.. far too many children don´t get that anymore - they grow up far too quickly..

Fever ...
Jamie is ill again since days but surprisingly happy still with it.. he has a fever, and i suspect teeth.
The no TV rule is working an absolute treat - Jamie´s play has developed so well. he plays so differently again, too, which I think is due to the fact that I got rid of all plastic toys! Apart from Lego Duplo and a box of mega blox everything is now wood or cloth or wool. Our fron room has got a little play area for him now with his table and chairs and crayons - and his little bed . Our dining room (the main play area) has now got some lovely baskets (instead of those horrible plastic boxes) filled with nice toys.
This morning jamie played with dried chick peas and a stainless steal milk pot (that i found in the charity shop) for 1 hour! Mind , I had chickpeas all over the floor after but he helped pick them back up (he loves tidying) and it was so worth the fun..
My next project is to find a suitable piece of furniture in the charity shops that I can use to create a mud pie kitchen in the garden.. with metal pots and pans , that should be a great thing to play with in the garden :D
Off to read Little house in the big woods , I got it on amazon for 1p (1963 version) and it seems like a lovel book. I read about these books on mamauk ´s blog and I had to just order them, will be getting the children´s version when Jamie is a bit older.

5 year anniversary
Today it´s been 5 years since I sat at home , when I had this feeling I HAD to go to that particular bar. so I went all on my own which I would have never usually done..I just felt I had to go.
Well, I met Ben there and 5 years on i live in the UK , have a wonderful wonderful son and a lovely fiancé..
Ben gave me a Willow Tree figure, i have always wanted to collect them! So this is my first figure :) I have to smile every time i look at it:
A child of my heart
Jamie touched my heart tonight when I sung him his lullaby and when I left the room he was singing this song and I could hear him over the monitor.. he then said night night to his cuddly rabbit (called didi *lol*)..
He has always loved sleeping and going to bed, I really am blessed with this little guy!

no TV..
As of today i have decided no TV for Jamie anymore. he has watched a fair few episodes of in the night garden in his life. Totally against all my beliefs , if I´d be in germany noone would question a 2 year old not watching telly so that´s what we´ll do from now on.

Church Farm
Yesterday afternoon we decided to go to Church Farm in Thurstaton, it is one amazing place and as the sun was shining we had a perfect afternoon. Jamie played in the big indoor sandpit, saw the baby lamb that was born on new years day , went on the big gokarts, saw the horses, pigs, donkeys, chicken and goats, ducks and geese..
We finished off with a stroll through their organic shop and a lovely gluten free toffee shortbread while Jamie had his tea which we brought (leek and potato soup)..
All in all a lovely afternoon!
Today we had a nice afternoon, we went to the library and I borrowed some lovely books, this, this and this..
Also, my amazon order came with 2 new lovely books : this and this ..
Can´t wait to read them in bed tonight!

Charity shop bargains....
Today Jamie and me had a lovely morning. Jamie managed to walk all the way to the post office and back (he has hypotonia and only started walking at 22 months so that is quiet an achievement..
We then went into the woods for a nice winter walk. We are so lucky to have this strip of wood right in front of our house! My blog picture was taken in this wood too..
In the afternoon we went out to my 2 favourite charity shops and this is what I got!!! I will crochet blankets and pillows for this and then hopefully we´ll get a nice waldorf doll sometime.
I was dreaming of a bed like this as a child... I do hope that Jamie will be playing with this, if not I am a childminder so hopefully some little girl will come along :), 2 pounds I paid for it!!
I also got this fab book:
I love watching Edwardian Farm on the BBC2 at the moment and this book has lots of traditional recipes and background information about life at 1891.. 50p it cost me :)

Survived the flu
We have all been terribly ill over christmas, I am sure we all had swine flu. On Christmas Eve I could hardly move with a temperauture of 40C ..
Jamie had an ear infection and a cold and cough and is only just getting better now..
TOMORROW Ofsted are coming to do my first graded inspection, I really am terrified..
